Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla, Spain Spanish Language and Culture Program Study at a Spanish university where you can take all levels of Spanish, as well as many electives taught in English or Spanish. Location Sevilla is the largest town in southern Spain, located in the Seville province in Andalusia, two hours by bullet train from Madrid. Roman, Moorish, Jewish and Christian influences are evident in the many palaces, towers, walls and churches, from the architecture to the intricate carvings and designs on church walls. It is a thriving city with outdoor parks, cafes and entertainment among its rich surroundings. It is the center of Andalusian culture and the heart of the flamenco. Its mild climate makes Seville an alfresco experience. Academics All students are required to take at least 1 Spanish course plus 3 or 4 elective courses. Language of Instruction Spanish and English Eligibility - Sophomore standing and above - Spanish Language requirement - none, but SPAN 101 preferred - Minimum 2.75 GPA (NOTE: Letter of reference required for GPAs of 2.75-2.99 GPA) Housing and Meals Study abroad students live with families in Sevilla, receiving three home cooked meals daily. The home stay offers an extraordinary opportunity to improve proficiency in Spanish and experience Spanish culture. Excursions There are several group field trips planned as part of the program to cities such as Madrid, Toledo, Granada and Cordoba. Most students also travel during long weekends.
