This course is an on-site study of international business and the impact of culture on business practices in general, and in South America, specifically Costa Rica. Specific objectives are to: -Enhance the students' understanding of the global marketplace -Increase the students' understanding of how culture and cultural difference in particular impact business and business practices -Determine the political and social climates in South America by learning about the interplay between politics, social issues, and the economy in Costa Rica -To identify the challenges of competing in the global marketplace and to provide tools for analyzing and solving the challenges (from the perspectives of the US government, corporations, individuals, and the economy in Costa Rica -To gain an understanding of the formation and maintenance of relationships with customers, distribution channels, competition, communication agencies and regulatory bodies in different geographic markets, suppliers, and partners. *Students from all majors are eligible to apply to this program, however, priority will be given to students within the College of Business.
