Winthrop students can participate in a semester or summer program sponsored by Winthrop University and directed by our faculty. Students pay an additional travel fee to Winthrop and receive grades upon completion of both the course and travel component. Students must register for the course associated with the program they are interested in, and complete all required course assignments to receive credit. The cost of the program will be charged to the student's WingSpan account- a $250 program deposit upon registering for the course, and the remainder of the program cost upon the start of the semester (ex. for courses taking place in the spring, students will register and be charged the $250 deposit in the fall, then the remainder of the program cost will be charged in at the same time as spring tuition).

Students interested in participating in a faculty-led program should contact the professor(s) listed to learn more about the program's specific requirements. Students will be responsible for registering for the appropriate course themselves, unless otherwise instructed by the professor.
Program Costs
The cost of each faculty-led program is determined to include at least the following: round trip transportation to/from destination, housing throughout duration of program, and comprehensive international health insurance. Some programs will also include the cost of program activities and meals- double check with your program leader to see what is included in your program cost.

- Souvenirs
- Optional activities - some programs will have optional activities available at additional cost
- International cell phone plan - determine if you'll need an international plan for your cell phone, or if you'll only use WiFi while travelling
- Transportation to the airport and/or parking - unless otherwise stated by your program leader, you will need to arrange travel to/from the Charlotte airport on your own
- Baggage fees - some airlines do not include checked baggage for all routes (ex. Canada is considered domestic for airlines, so checked baggage is an additional cost). Double check with your program leader and/or airline on if there is an additional cost to check your baggage
