Program Description

University of the Sunshine Coast
Queensland, Australia

The University of the Sunshine Coast is a comprehensive university with an enrollment of about 6,000 that allows students to experience the Australian culture and to earn academic credit toward their Winthrop degree. The campus is located on the edge of Cooloola National Park. Brisbane is located approximately 90 kilometers south of the campus.

Location

Regular bus service connects the campus to beaches and major shopping centers. Queensland’s Sunshine Coast offers an atmosphere of sophistication and relaxation. With sub-tropical climate, the beaches provide excellent waves for surfing and calm water for fishing and swimming. The Glasshouse Mountains offers spectacular outlooks at the plains below. There are a wide variety of restaurants, nightclubs, art galleries, and other exciting attractions such as the Australia Zoo and Underwater World.

Students can select classes from the following: Biotechnology, Communication, Creative Writing, Design, Education, Environmental Science, International Business, International Relations, Journalism, Management, Marine Science, Marketing, Nursing Science, Public Relations, Sport and Exercise Science, and Tourism. Some offer an in-depth look at Australian history, politics, environment, business and other courses which focus on the broader global perspectives.
